This test method demonstrates conformity of a dynamic mechanical analyzer at an isothermal temperature of 21 °C. Dynamic mechanical analysis experiments often use linear temperature change. This test method does not address the effect of that change in temperature on the loss modulus. This test method may be used in research and development, specification acceptance, and quality control or assurance.1.1 This test method describes the performance confirmation or measurement of conformance for the loss modulus scale of a commercial or custom-built dynamic mechanical analyzer (DMA) at 21 °C using ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene as a reference material. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.3 There is no ISO standard equivalent to this test method. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

This European Standard gives guidelines to ensure that manufacturers of machines provide adequate information on application of vibration isolation to reduce the risks arising from vibration generated by their machines. Guidelines are also provided to ensure that users furnish sufficient information regarding their applications to suppliers of machines or, where applicable, to the supplier of the isolation system, to enable the optimum selection and design of vibration isolation. This European Standard is restricted to source isolation. Although this standard is primarily intended for the use of new machines, it may be applied to the installation of used machines, too. This European Standard is addressed to manufacturers and installers of a machine, as a guide to define relevant parameters for the choice and installation of a vibration isolation system to be used with the machine. NOTE This European Standard may also be applied by users of machines already installed, who use or wish to use vibration isolation to solve a vibration problem caused by the machine. This European Standard shall not be considered as a manual for the design or installation of an isolation system. Examples of elements of vibration isolation are shown in Annex A only for information.

This International Standard specifies performance parameters and methods of inspection of mechanical shock-testing machines and gives guidelines for describing their characteristics. It is intended to ensure that the potential user of a particular shock-testing machine is provided with an adequate description of the characteristics of the machine, and also to give guidance on the selection of such machines. This International Standard is applicable to the shock-testing machines that are used for demonstrating or evaluating the effect of shock conditions representative of the service environment in accordance with the relevant part of IEC 60068 and also for diagnostic testing. The purpose of the shock test is to reveal mechanical weakness and/or degradation in specified performance. It can also be used to determine the structural integrity of a test specimen or as a means of quality control. Machines used for simulation of earthquakes, sonic booms, explosions and implosions, bursting tests, metalworking, forming, etc. are not covered in this International Standard. Several techniques for generating the desired shock motion are discussed. Both simple-pulse and complex transients can be produced. The simulation of transients can be achieved by control of the test with a specified shock-response spectrum. NOTE 1 Annex A gives a description of pulse-shaping devices. Annex B defines methods of application of the shock response spectra. Annex C considers a method of evaluating the possibility of using a vibration generator for producing a shock pulse. Annexes D and E deal with the methods of measurement of some characteristics in inspection methods (or procedures) of shock-testing machines. NOTE 2 Characteristics of vibration-generating equipment are covered in ISO 5344, ISO 6070 and ISO 8626.

This European Standard provides guidelines for the measurement and evaluation of whole-body vibration at the workplace. This European Standard describes the precautions to be taken to make representative vibration measurements and to determine the daily exposure time for each operation in order to calculate the daily exposure value standardized to an 8 h reference period. This European Standard provides a means to determine the relevant operations that should be taken into account when determining the vibration exposure. This European Standard applies to situations where people are exposed to whole-body vibration at the workplace, transmitted through the buttocks for a seated person or through the feet for a standing person. This European Standard is restricted to the evaluation of exposure to whole-body vibration using quantities derived from frequency-weighted root-mean-square acceleration. The frequency range considered is 0,5 Hz to 80 Hz. Where the vibration includes shocks or impacts, methods in this European Standard may underestimate the severity of the exposure. There is a need to assess the risks arising from exposure to whole-body shocks and high crest factor vibration. Methods for this are beyond the scope of this European Standard.
