This part of ISO 10465 presents a comparison of the ATV and AWWA methods for static calculations on underground GRP pipe installations. It is intended that this comparison will encourage the use of both procedures for GRP pipes conforming to International Standards. It is not the intent of this part of ISO 10465 to cover all the details of the two methods. Some aspects are, of necessity, very complex, and for a full understanding the original documents need to be studied in detail. Rather, the intention is to give a general overview and comparison of the key elements so that the user can more easily understand and appreciate the differences between the two procedures and their similarities.

This document specifies definitions and recommended specifications and test methods for the utilisation of PVC-U, PP and PE non-virgin materials in components for non-pressure piping systems. This document specifies the use of material with agreed specifications in the event that large quantities are to be used. This document gives information concerning the relationship between relevant characteristics and their influence on processing/performance on pipes and/or fittings. NOTE 1 For the purpose of this specification, the term pipes refers to extruded pipes and any parts of a fabricated fitting which is made from an extruded pipe. The term fitting means injection moulded fittings and injection moulded parts of a fabricated fitting. NOTE 2 The product standard should specify the requirements and permitted deviations of the characteristics specified in Table 1, Table 2 and Table 3, as well as permitted dosage levels. NOTE 3 The WG responsible for the product standard should consider those recommendations and only permit dosage levels which comply with the safety requirements of the product standard. Further, the WG should consider whether extra or more frequent product testing is relevant when using such material in the production of pipes and fittings in accordance with the relevant product standard. NOTE 4 For the recycling process, for the testing and the use of the material National and/or European regulations may apply.

The inspection, testing, and repair of lateral connections for sanitary sewers are regular practice necessary for the maintenance and optimal performance of the system. It is important to identify methods that use the most current compounds and technology to ensure the reduction of infiltration and exfiltration. It is important to minimize disruption to traffic and lessen the environmental impacts for both the municipal and private owners. This practice serves as a means to inspect, test, and seal sewer lateral connections and a predetermined portion of the lateral lines from the mainline sewer, having selected the appropriate chemical grouts using the lateral packer method. Television (or optical) inspection and sewer lateral connection testing are used to assess the condition and document any repairs. This practice should not be used where mainline and lateral connections are found with longitudinally cracked pipe, structurally unsound pipe, or flattened or out of round pipe.1.1 This practice covers the procedures for testing and sealing sewer lateral connections and lateral lines from the mainline sewer with appropriate chemical grouts using the lateral packer method. Chemical grouting is used to stop infiltration of ground water and exfiltration of sewage in gravity flow sewer systems that are structurally sound. 1.2 This practice applies to mainline sewer diameters of 6 to 24 in. with 4, 5, or 6 in. diameter laterals. Larger diameter pipes with lateral connections and lines can be grouted with special packers or man-entry methods. The mainline and lateral pipes must be structurally adequate to create an effective seal. 1.3 Worker safety training should include reviewing the biohazards and gases from sewage, confined spaces, pumping equipment, and related apparatus. Additional safety considerations including proper handling, mixing, and transporting of chemical grouts should be provided by the chemical grout manufacturer or supplier, or both. Their safe operating practices and procedures should describe in detail appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for the various grouting operations. Operations covered should include the proper storage, transportation, mixing, and disposal of chemical grouts, additives, and their associated containers. 1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

This standard describes the manufacture of reinforced concrete cylinder pipe that is not prestressed or pretensioned, in sizes 30 in. to 144 in. (760 mm to 3,660 mm), inclusive. Larger sizes have been manufactured based on the concepts of this standard. This type of pipe is designed for the internal pressure, external loads, and bedding conditions designated by the purchaser. This standard does not include requirements for design, handling, delivery, laying, field testing, or disinfection of pipe. Refer to AWWA Manual M9, Concrete Pressure Pipe, for information on these topics. 1.1.1 Essential requirements. The pipe shall have the following principal features: a welded steel cylinder with steel joint rings welded to its ends; a reinforcing cage or cages of steel bars, wire, or welded wire reinforcement; a wall of concrete encasing the steel cylinder and reinforcing cage or cages inside and outside of the steel cylinder; and a joint with a preformed gasket of rubber, designed so that the joint will be watertight under all conditions of service.

This Standard sets out methods for determining the resistance to infiltration of assembled elastomeric seal joints and fittings with inspection and test openings. The tests in Clause 2 allow for two options for testing of infiltration of inspection and test openings and elastomeric seal joints without diametral distortion, by application of either an external hydrostatic pressure or an internal vacuum. The test in Section 3 describes an internal vacuum test conducted on an elastomeric seal joint whilst a specified diametral distortion is applied to the pipe spigot.
