IEC 61477:2009 gives the minimum requirements relative to specification, manufacture, selection, application and maintenance of tools, devices and equipment for live working. It provides the type of information which is useful to skilled persons in order to make the use of tools, devices and equipment safer. This type of information includes: - the characteristics of tools, devices and equipment; - their conditions for use; - their conditions for maintenance; - their conditions for storage and transportation. Such information may be given in standards, manufacturer's instructions for use and in internal regulations set forth by companies for their own employees. Such information should be completed by work methods, which are excluded from the scope of this standard. This second edition of IEC 61477 cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2001, its Amendment 1 (2002) and Amendment 2 (2004). IEC 60900:2012 is applicable to insulated and insulating hand tools used for working live or close to live parts at nominal voltages up to 1 000 V a.c. and 1 500 V d.c. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition, published in 2004. This edition constitutes a technical revision and includes the following significant technical changes with regard to the previous edition: - general review of the requirements and test provisions; - preparation of the elements of evaluation of defects, and general application of IEC 61318:2007 (Ed.3); - deletion of Annexes D and E, not applicable according to IEC 61318 Ed.3; - introduction of a new normative Annex D on chronology of type tests; - and introduction of a new normative Annex F on classification of defects.

IEC 61481-1:2014 is applicable to portable phase comparators of capacitive type to be used on electrical systems for voltages exceeding 1 kV a.c. and frequencies of 50 Hz and/or 60 Hz. This standard is applicable to single-pole phase comparators of capacitive type operating with a memory system up to 36 kV a.c., and two-pole phase comparators of capacitive type operating with a wireless connection up to 245 kV a.c. This standard is applicable to phase comparators of capacitive type used in contact with the bare conductive parts to be compared as a complete device including its insulating element or as a separate device, adaptable to an insulating stick which, as a separate tool, is not covered by this standard. A device that is designed to provide other functions than phase comparison is a different device and is not covered by this standard. For example a device designed to be also used as a voltage detector is not covered by this standard. This first edition, together with the first edition of IEC 61481-2, cancels and replaces the first edition of IEC 61481 published in 2001, Amendment 1:2002 and Amendment 2:2004. This edition constitutes a technical revision including the following major changes: - split of the standard in two parts; - extension of the scope to include two-pole phase comparators operating with a wireless connection up to 245 kV a.c.; - review of the requirements for indication; - introduction of a requirement for a new marking "LU" for limited use; - and revision of existing annexes. The contents of the corrigendum of July 2015 have been included in this copy.

IEC 60984:2014 is applicable to electrical insulating sleeves for the protection of workers from accidental contact with live electrical conductors, apparatus or circuits. The products designed and manufactured according to this standard contribute to the safety of the users provided they are used by skilled persons, in accordance with safe methods of work and the instructions for use. Unless otherwise stated, in this standard the term "sleeve" is used for "electrical insulating sleeve". This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition, published in 1990 and its Amendment 1 published in 2002. It constitutes a technical revision which includes the following major changes: - removal of the requirement for an area to mark the date of inspection; - only the straight mounting method with water electrodes is specified for the dielectric type test; - the d.c. electric tests are no longer included in the normative part of the document, but a new informative Annex E is added; - preparation of the elements of evaluation of defects, and general application of IEC 61318:2007; - in the new normative Annex F, updating of the characteristics of the liquid specified for tests on sleeves of category H, according to the latest edition of ISO 1817; - introduction of a new normative Annex G on classification of defects; - introduction of a new informative Annex H on the rationale for the classification of defects; - and for periodic electrical retesting, recommended voltage limit of the dielectric test methods to 10 kV except in case of the test method with water electrodes and straight mounting.

IEC 61230:2008 is applicable to portable equipment, with or without matching connection points, for temporary earthing or earthing and short-circuiting of electrically isolated or de-energized a.c. and d.c. installations, distribution and transmission networks, whether they are overhead or underground or of low or high voltage. This standard covers equipment comprising an earthing or a short-circuiting or an earthing and short-circuiting device and insulating component. The performance of equipment, devices and components covered by this standard is based on electro-dynamic and electro-thermal effects acting during short-circuit. The withstand capability of the devices and equipment is expressed by their rated values of current, time and peak factor. No rated voltage is given, but the geometrical dimensions of the equipment are also linked to the voltage of the installation. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 1993. It constitutes a technical revision. The major changes are: - extension of the scope to cover the use of equipment on d.c. installations; - extension of the use of aluminium to all conductive parts of the device; - possibility of using this standard for separate components of the equipment; - general revision of requirements and tests; - revision of existing annexes; - introduction of a new informative Annex D giving guidelines for determination of the equivalent r.m.s. value of a short-circuit current and of a new normative Annex F on classification of defects

The present Technical Report covers procedures for the installation and maintenance of optical fibre cables on overhead power lines. This includes: – optical ground wire (OPGW) fibre cable; – optical phase conductor (OPPC) fibre cable; – optical attached fibre cable (OPAC); – all dielectric self supporting (ADSS) optical fibre cable. Optical fibre cables are considered for single and multi-circuit constructions in common use within some countries. The primary concern is the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment when installing or maintaining these types of optical fibre cable on overhead power lines.

This International Standard covers telescopic sticks and telescopic measuring sticks to be used for live working on a.c. or d.c. electrical installations at 1 000 V and above for a.c. and 1 500 V and above for d.c. The telescopic sticks are designed to accept attachments that meet appropriate live working standards and, together with these attachments, may be used to perform mechanical work on live parts at a distance. Telescopic sticks are also designed to accept diagnostic devices that meet appropriate live working standards and are used to make the diagnostic devices reach parts of an installation to be tested. Telescopic measuring sticks, or telescopic sticks equipped with graduations, are used to measure distances to or between live parts. NOTE Under certain circumstances, the telescopic sticks covered by this standard can be used for installing portable earthing or earthing and short-circuiting equipment if the mechanical stresses during use are lower than the rated values. The tools (telescopic sticks and telescopic measuring sticks) covered by this standard are for use under dry conditions but could also be used under very humid conditions, using appropriate working procedures. Telescopic hook sticks are not covered by this standard. Telescopic bonding sticks and any other speciality telescopic sticks designed at the request of users are not covered by this standard.
